Let’s Make This Together!

Audio Incubator is our chance, as a community, to build on everything we loved about Pianobook and take it to the next step – connecting people who love to make sounds with people who are inspired by them.

We want to keep things accessible to everyone, to create and to use. To do this we need to find ways to independently fund our efforts – the hosting costs, the cost of hiring developers to build the tech we need, and to create opportunities for everyone.

We have lots of ideas around crowdfunding and other ways to make this work, however all of that takes time to get right and we’re too impatient to wait!

So… let’s make something together. Build a community sample library that we can offer to the community in return for donations to get Audio Incubator off the ground.

How To Take Part

Record some notes of an instrument of your choosing – anything that is acoustic will work. We want short notes and long notes across a range that makes sense for whatever you record.

Please make sure you record the samples in 24bit / 48KHz (if you can) and edit you samples into multiple WAV files.

Naming helps us a lot, so try to name your files similar to this

[Your Name]_[Your Instrument]_[Short or Long]_[Note Name].wav

For example, if you sample a flute you might have as set of files like

Sam Samples_Flute_Short_C4.wav

Sam Samples_Flute_Short_F4.wav

Sam Samples_Flute_Short_C5.wav

Sam Samples_Flute_Long_C4.wav

Sam Samples_Flute_Long_F5.wav

Sam Samples_Flute_Long_C5.wav

Don’t cut your samples too hard at the start and let them fade out naturally – we can do more editing once we have everyone’s submission.

How To Submit

Pop your samples in a folder with your name on it, zip it up and drop it here.

Submissions in by the 1st November please.
